GRU Equality, along with the MCG Office of Diversity Affairs, GRU Office of Diversity and Inclusion, GRU College of Nursing, Lambda Alliance at GRU, and AMA-Medical Student Section at MCG, is excited to announce the 2nd annual Come Out for Health Week at Georgia Regents University in celebration of National LGBT Health Awareness Week 2013. Events this year include a patient-provider panel & community resource fair, an interactive workshop on taking an inclusive sexual history, a lecture on the unique considerations of transgender health, and a whirlwind overview of all the disparities, inequities and anxieties that encompass LGBT health. We’re proud to be hosting speakers such as Shane Snowdon, HRC Director of Health and Aging and founder of the nation’s first LGBT office in a health or health education setting, and Dr. Jason Schneider, faculty at Emory School of Medicine and co-founder of the AMA Advisory Committee on GLBT Issues. Faculty, staff, and students are encouraged to join us in order raise their awareness of LGBT health issues and develop the clinical knowledge & skills to improve the everyday healthcare experiences of patients from the LGBTQ community.
