Please join GRU Equality, the MCG Office of Student and Multicultural Affairs, the GRU Office of Diversity and Inclusion, the GRU College of Nursing, Lambda Alliance at GRU, and the entire GRU community as we celebrate LGBT Health Awareness Week 2014 with a full week of educational events focused on the health needs, disparities, and concerns of LGBTQ people. Events this year include a patient-provider panel & community resource fair, a workshop on policies and practices relevant to LGBT patient care, a keynote address on diversity and inclusion from a leader in LGBT nursing, a screening of a documentary on transgender primary care, and the launching of a new training initiative at GRU. Faculty, staff, and students are encouraged to join us in order to raise their awareness of LGBT health issues and develop the clinical knowledge & skills to improve the everyday healthcare experiences of patients from the LGBTQ community & their providers. For more information visit the Come Out for Health website or facebook page.

Our next regular business meeting will be Monday, March 19th from noon to 1 in the Terrace Dining Hall of the GHS Medical Center. The primary focus will be finalizing plans and duties for the upcoming LGBT Health Awareness Week. Please join us as everyone's effort will be needed to make our first events as successful as possible.
Our next regular meeting has been scheduled for Wednesday 2/29 at 5:30pm at Nacho Mama's in downtown Augusta. We have reserved the upstairs balcony, and we hopefully will be able get some work accomplished and then turn this into an after-work/school social gathering to get to know each other and build camaraderie among the group. Business goals include structural organization, vision/mission, leadership, and the first steps of action. We will also discuss our group plans (if any) for the upcoming National LGBT Health Awareness Week. Please visit the upcoming page or contact us for more info.
Our next meeting will be held at the Partridge Inn from 1 to 4 pm on Saturday, January 28th. We will be focused on generating a defined mission statement, goals, and name and beginning to set up leadership structure. Representatives from UGA GLOBES will join us to share their experience.
